Overview of Peg Board for Finger Dexterity Training
The hand therapy pegboard is used for occupational treatment to insert the steel pegs accurately in place to train the patients’ eye and hand coordination function. Through a series of actions to use different fingers to coordinate, pull out and insert the peg, replace the peg with a hole, pull it out and flip it in, pick up the designated peg, it can enhance the control of the fingers and upper limbs, and improve hand-eye coordination.
Training Method of Hand Therapy Insertion Board
- The large size board is suitable for training large hand movement, such as the patients’ affected side holding the healthy side to assist in picking up, two-handed grippings, one hand gripping, and other training.
- The medium-sized board is suitable for training hands with medium difficulty movements, such as pinching with one hand and picking with three fingers.
- The small size board is suitable for training fine finger movements, such as three-finger squeezing and pinching.
- Put the board on the floor or table in front of the trainer. It is better to take a sitting position for the trainer.
- The trainer grasps the stick naturally and takes out the stick from the hole, and then inserts it into the hole. The patients should repeat the operation many times.
- Take out all the plugs from the hole, and then insert it into the hole correctly, repeat the operation many times.
- If necessary, it can be equipped with a stopwatch for timing.
